This is my second year of teaching, in addition, my second year teaching at Lois Allen Elementary. I love the students, staff, and families. I have made wonderful friends, and I appreciate each and every person I have had the opportunity to work with. There is no other school that I would rather be teaching at. I have certainly made Lois Allen my home. I have lived in Reno, NV since the third grade. I have been a student at Roy Gomm, Verdi, Billinghurst, I graduated high school from McQueen, and received my Bachelor of Science in Education from UNR. Before moving to Reno I lived in Fernley, NV. My mother was the Lyon County Commissioner, and when she lost the re-election we packed our things and headed 30 miles west. I graduated from UNR in the fall of 2006 and immediately received the chance to teach a remedial and enrichment class at Elmcrest Elementary, creating my own program from the ground up. I have a passion for teaching, and I know that this is what I was meant to do. I recently got married in 2008 to the love of my life for the past 9 years, Mr. Scott. My husband and I live in the New Northwest and we have a cat named Oscar. Family and friends are very important to us. I believe this is why I feel as though I could never move. I wouldn’t want to anyway because I truly love Reno. This year I have had the pleasure of watching my students grow and achieve tremendously in the second grade. I am also appreciative of the fact that I get to teach in the same class as a very good friend of mine, Mrs. Hawkins. We are very proud of our students and we look forward to their continued successes. Let's have a great rest of the year second grade!!!! Each child at Lois Allen has a personal account set up on Study Island. Go here to work on math and reading skills, play games and learn about the Nevada Academic Standards.
