Message from Ms. Arrascada

Soon we will start to see signs of Spring and Spring Break is right around the corner!!

All families should have received a letter regarding our change in school calendar from multitrack to single track Green. The school district closely watches enrollment at every school. When enrollment levels decrease to a certain threshold and are expected to stay at that level for three years the decision is made to switch calendars. This will mean that our first day of school next year is July 25th for everyone. The entire school will be on break in November, March/April and July. I do not have teacher allocation yet so I am not sure who will be teaching were. If you have questions regarding this change please come to the parent meeting on Thursday, March 31st at 6 pm.

New student and kindergarten registration is the week of May 2nd. We are asking all returning families to bring in a new proof of residence. This can be a power or water bill.

Congratulations to the following students who won the spelling bee for their grade level, Cassidy Pistnogle, 1st grade Mrs. O’Connell, Sergio Garcia, 1st grade Ms. Laxalt, Zayden Alhasan, 2nd grade Mrs. Jaeck, Justin Gardner, 3rd grade Mrs. Christensen/Mrs. Stefan, Savannah Lary, 4th grade Mrs. Withers, Serene Townsell, 5th grade Mr. Lee, Jordan Gardner, 6th grade Mrs. Matthews.

We are gearing up for our annual Sock Hop May 6th. This is a great family event! If you would like to help please contact PTA.

We are having an increasing problem of students arriving too early for school. This concerns me because we do not have supervision on the playground until 8:40. I want every student here at Beasley E.S. to be safe. Please do not send your child or drop them off before there is teacher supervision.

Thank you for you continued support.

Please attend to make an informed decision on this important topic. This will be the FINAL meeting, and all votes submitted by the end of the night will determine our school’s outcome. ONLY current PTA members will be allowed to vote, so please come and let your voice be heard.

If you are interested in joining the PTA board, please stop by and see Mrs. Moore (room C-5). We would love to see some new faces and new ideas join us for the next school year.

RAFFLE TICKETS! Please get your kids out selling those raffle tickets! The drawing will be May 6th. The child who sells the most tickets will win a $200 cash prize, the child who sells the winning ticket will receive a $50 cash prize, and don’t forget – the grand prize winner will receive $2,000!!!!

We look forward to seeing everyone again for our annual SOCK HOP, Friday May 6th beginning at 6:00. That is also the night of the Raffle Drawing. You won’t want to miss it!

Counselor Corner

The Bud Beasley School code of the Blue Bellies asks that we be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. I would like to offer tips on how to accomplish all three!

I receive material from different sources on a regular basis. Many times there are ideas and information which is well worth sharing with parents and staff.

In a recent Home and School Connection flyer there were suggestions for helping children in becoming responsible, hard working, and persistent. These traits are important to learn, and will help our students to be successful in their many endeavors.

We learn that "team players" have a part in getting things done. A group approach teaches skills on how to get along and work with others in accomplishing tasks. Having children do family chores teaches responsibility and can be rewarding. Doing things that benefit our families are great ways to teach respect for our homes, communities, and selves. Many of these responsibilities also help create safe environments.

Remember to start with small goals and work toward accomplishing big tasks. Imagine how the big picture will turn out. Spring Break is coming up. What better timing for having fun and getting things done?

PBS News

During the months of March and April our Positive Behavior Support (PBS)/Character Education traits are Justice and Fairness. During the previous months are character education traits were Respect for July and August, Responsibility for September and October, Kindness and Compassion for November and December, and Acceptance and Tolerance for January and February.

The Character Education traits are used with the PBS program and provide eve-ryone a list of specific behavior expecta-tions to follow throughout the school campus. These expectations, be respectful, be responsible, and be safe are known as the "Code of the Blue Belly". Students are expected to follow the expectations in the classrooms, hallways, restrooms, lunchroom, and playground and when they are following the expectations they are rewarded for the positive behavior by earning "Beasley Bucks". During our track on-off assembly’s students are recognized by their teachers for demonstrating positive behavior in front of the students and presented with a certificate and prizes. The PBS and Character Education traits have helped Beasley to con-tinue to be an awesome place to learn!

This month the Beasley Positive Behavior Supports will focus on being respectful here at school.

Thank you to the Reno Aces, for donating hats, backpacks, trading cards, shirts and folders.
