The Daily Meow is a student run live television broadcast of the school's daily announcements. This special advisory is made up of 7th and 8th grade students that represent each of the schools academic teams. In addition to the running of the daily announcements, the students create a monthly-quarterly show that shows off: News about the school, sports recognition, creating a fun quiz for all advisories to participate in, and any other miscellaneous topics that arise. This group is also responsible for putting together the End-Of-The-Year video that is showed during the last day of school assembly.
This year's advisory consists of:
[7th Grade]...
Ferocious Felines:
Christian S.
Wild Cats:
Adrian M. & Christian O.
Panthera:
Gillian D, Kristin H, Dylan V, Jordan W, Caitlyn W.
[8th Grade]...
Panthera:
Jaciel D, Alyssa H, Dakota H, Elaine J, Briana V, Cassy W, & Allison Z.
Show Format:
Each morning the students show up early to get things set-up and ready to run for that days show. Each morning the announcements start at 8:15. Each show starts with "The Pledge of Allegiance", followed by a "Moment of silence", and "The Purple Hand Pledge". We then move into the daily announcements, which are generally e-mailed to the students. Occasionally, we then are asked to show special videos and\or special announcements made by: Teachers, Administration, or special groups of students.
Committee Work:
After the announcements are completed, the students begin working on their committee work. Each committee is responsible for putting together their part of the monthly-quarterly show. The committees include:
* Tech - This group is responsible for showing up early to get their equipment ready, selecting the music to play before and after the announcements, selecting a morning freeze (before the announcements start), and setting up the title makers scrolling information for each day. After the announcements wrap-up, these students then work on creating a new announcements introduction (The Pledge, Moment of Silence, and Purple Hand Pledge) to keep things fresh.
* Announcements - This group is responsible for showing up early to get the teleprompter ready for each day's announcements. This group is also responsible for setting up each week's announcers. They chose these people by going to all the schools advisories and having the advisor select two of their advisory students to go for a specific day the next week.
* Sports - This group is responsible for staying after school to take pictures\videos of our home athletic events. They then take those and create a compilation to recognize our student athletes.
* Quizzes - This group is responsible for coming up with an idea for a fun quiz to air during our show, some examples from this year are: Name that Song (from the lyrics), Identify That Person, From Their Eyes, & What Country Does That Flag Belong To. They then create the video quiz and an answer supplement for it and determine what they winning advisory will get for a prize.
* School News - This group is responsible for creating short videos about anything that is going on with our school, some examples from this year are: Introduction of Our New Teachers, Bookmark Entries and Winners, and Fundraisers. This group is also responsible for creating commercials for our Student Leadership and Peer Mediation advisories.
