WCSD Community Education Now Offers Former Truckee Meadows Community College Personal Enrichment Classes
Reno, NV (Jan. 13, 2012) - As of Jan. 1, 2012, TMCC's noncredit personal enrichment classes have moved under WCSD Community Education allowing area residents to access these fun courses from one source. By combining these programs under one umbrella, Community Education will serve all age groups-from toddlers to senior citizens-using the District's schools, the college and other community facilities more efficiently.
This action eliminates redundancy, while creating one location for community contact. It also saves money through the consolidation of class catalogs, staff, registration software and databases. The goal is to serve students more efficiently and reduce overall expenses, while continuing to have each class pay for itself through the tuition fees generated. Through this effort, WCSD Community Education will double the number of quality of life classes it will hold in 2012 to more than 600 topics. Courses will be offered in arts/crafts, fitness/sports, computers for the home, languages (including online Rosetta Stone courses), dance, wellness, music, home/garden, food/beverage, money/investing, the Nevada Ghost and Paranormal Series, writing, outdoors, Senior Silver College, drivers' education for teens, as well as classes, camps and workshops for children.
