Washoe Country School District
Thank you to our community…
The tragic incident at Sparks Middle School in October has shocked and shaken all of us. As a community, we are feeling many emotions as we try to understand and cope with this incident. We all have questions and want answers, some that we may never know. But there is one thing that we know for certain – in the face of extreme tragedy and adversity, the Washoe County community comes together in the most caring and compassionate ways, lifting up those who have fallen down or who’ve lost faith.
We are in awe of and truly grateful for the overwhelming community support and love that has been directed toward the students, staff, and parents of Sparks Middle School and all those affected by the tragedy. Since the tragic event, our community has reached out the Washoe County School District to provide support and assistance to our students, families, staff, and the school district. We are so appreciative of all that the community has provided, from resources and donations to emotional support. While our local community has truly pulled together, we’ve also felt the support from the entire country. We’ve received cards, phone calls, e-mails, and an incredible response on social media.
Our community is resilient and together we will push forward—never forgetting those who we lost and those who were harmed. Our hearts, prayers, and sympathies are with everyone impacted by this sad act of violence. Despite all of these emotions and the loss we are feeling, we will heal together through the support, love, and passion we have as a community.
With heartfelt appreciation,
