Capital Projects Unveils Enhanced Website
Highlights include improved access to information, interactive elements
Reno, Nev., (May 7, 2010) - - The Washoe County School District recently unveiled its enhanced Capital Projects website at www.wcsdfacilities.com.
The primary goal of the website is to provide visitors with unparalleled access to information about how the voter-approved 2002 rollover bond is being used to improve area schools.
“The changes to local schools have been sweeping, and the sheer scope of projects undertaken reveals the power of the rollover bond,” said Elizabeth Wright, director of accountability and public relations for Capital Projects. “These vital funds have helped us fulfill our commitment to students, teachers and citizens. And now it’s easier to see just how the funds were put to use.”
The enhanced website, Wright says, allows local citizens the opportunity to see for themselves what has been done at area schools and how the rollover bond affects them, their children and local learning environments.
The website features many educational and interactive components. Highlights include the following:
- One-click accountability: Not only can visitors better understand the goals of the WCSD’s Capital Projects department and how projects are funded, but they also can see lists of accomplishments and comprehensive facility data.
- Interactive elements: Visitors can explore current and to-date capital projects, seeing costs and completion dates. And an interactive map allows visitors to click a school icon, which reveals school information, directions and links to the current and to-date capital project initiatives.
- Dynamic content: Perhaps the most personal reflections of rollover bond benefits can be found in two videos found on the Communications & Media page, which tell the story of Kendyl Depoali Middle School’s construction and the revitalization of Rita Cannan Elementary School.
- Community connection: Capital Projects partners with many local vendors on construction projects. Now, information about upcoming bids and bid results is available with one convenient click on the website.
“We’ve been excellent stewards of taxpayer money, and we hold ourselves to extremely high standards,” Wright said of the accountability of Capital Projects. “We have all of this data showing the amazing strides we’ve made since voters approved the rollover bond in 2002, and now we have an improved, more convenient venue to illustrate that.”
Capital Projects welcomes feedback from the community about how the website can better serve its needs. Please send comments to Mikalee Byerman at mbyerman@washoe.k12.nv.us.
