Revitalization: Seeing is Believing
2002 Rollover Bond Makes a Difference for
Local School Children
This summer, seven elementary schools in the Washoe County School District benefited from a complete revitalization. Crews worked diligently during summer months to refurbish the children’s learning environments in an effort to provide the safest, most comfortable and most technologically enhanced classrooms possible.
Here are a few of the upgraded features of these enhanced learning environments:

In light of our school district’s budget crisis, it’s important to point out the funds for these projects did not come from our general fund, which pays for teacher salaries, text books and other classroom necessities. Instead, about $2.5 million per revitalized school came from the voter-approved 2002 Rollover Bond.
Please take a moment to stop by your child’s classroom to see for yourself the difference. Our goal is to create the best possible learning environment for our Washoe County School District students, staff and teachers.
FEEDBACK ABOUT CLASSROOM REVITALIZATION
“As principal, I think the revitalization will increase student achievement through the technology upgrades and that we will have a safe and secure environment with our new single access point. I believe the revitalization process is a visible expression of the community and the district's commitment to our students and staff in older school.”
~ John Sutherland, Principal, Elmcrest Elementary School
“Everything is redecorated and new, and it looks beautiful. I’m excited to be in the new classrooms and use the white boards.”
~ Sam Clements, 9, 4th grade student at Hunter Lake Elementary School
“The Promethean board (interactive white board) is wonderful and really makes teaching and learning effective. The upgrades have built confidence and pride in the school.”
~ Teacher, Alice Maxwell Elementary School
