Public Information Officer

I am a proud California native who came from the Central Valley back in 1987 to become a television reporter at KRNV-TV, Channel 4. While there, I covered literally thousands of stories about every possible subject, but among my favorite stories were those that involved the education system in Nevada.

I am the daughter of two public school teachers, and have always placed a high value on education. I graduated from California State University, Fresno, with a double major in Theatre Arts and Broadcast Journalism. Later, I earned my Master’s degree in International Relations with a Concentration in Justice and Homeland Security from Salve Regina University. I taught advanced broadcast journalism courses at the UNR’s Reynolds School of Journalism for eight years and greatly enjoyed watching the learning process unfold right there in my classroom.

In January, 2012, I decided to become a full-time spokesperson—the Public Information Officer-- for the Washoe County School District. It is my job to draw public attention to the outstanding people and programs the district offers, and there are plenty of things happening in our district of which we are very proud. I consider it a privilege to work with such a gifted team of educators and other professionals.

In my spare time, I enjoy shopping in old bookstores for classic mysteries and biographical works. I love to cook and bake, and I especially like to “experiment” with new recipes for friends and family.
