 GATE High School Institute at Hug High School


The GATE Department will hold a Gifted Institute Orientation on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 from 6:30-7:30pm in the Procter Hug High School Big Gym.


Mission: To offer gifted high school scholars advanced and accelerated educational opportunities within the Hug High School Campus. This innovative Institute offers accelerated pathways to a WCSD Gifted high school diploma, Health Science Signature Academy pathway, the greatest number of Advanced Placement opportunities, and University of Nevada courses. At the Gifted Institute, scholars find a community of intellectual peers and trained educators who work together in partnership to nurture academic and intellectual stimulation while supporting innovative thinking, social and ethical development, and personal growth of the gifted. The Institute will provide appropriate challenge thus increasing engagement in school, decreasing underachievement, and help with the continual growth of gifted students.


Applications are now being accepted for the 2014/2015 school year from current 8th grade GATE Magnet students only. We are happy to have the opportunity to work with you, but before you apply for an internship please consider: do you have enough time to successfully complete it (6-8 hours a week during regular business hours) AND do you have the transportation to get you to and from the internship several days a week?
