Public Policy, Accountability and Assessment

Public Policy, Accountability and Assessment is responsible for ensuring that the District complies with all mandates of the Nevada Revised Statutes and the Nevada Administrative Code as they relate to accountability, assessment, and other matters impacting education. Major responsibilities include:

  • Fulfilling the complex and numerous data requirements as mandated by the Nevada Revised Statutes. This responsibility has high profile annual components.
  • Facilitates the activities of the Data Profile Group of the Education Collaborative.
  • Administrative oversight of District sponsored charter schools.
  • Administrative oversight of all State mandated assessments, including the High School Proficiency Exam, the 5th & 8th Grade Writing Exams, Criterion Referenced Tests, and the Norm Referenced Tests.
  • Administrative oversight of multiple District assessments, including Benchmark Assessments, High School Math Common Finals, etc.
  • Administrative oversight for student accounting and reporting procedures, including enrollment, withdrawal, transcript generation, foreign exchange students, variances into and out of the District, and diplomas awarded to Veterans.
  • Custodian for permanent archive of all student transcripts.
  • Administrative oversight of the Data Management System.
  • Administrative oversight of Adequate Yearly Progress, as set forth by No Child Left Behind.
  • Administrative oversight of the Millennium Scholarship for Washoe County School District.
  • Produces the Impact Aid Report that annually provides about $165,000 in federal reimbursement to the District.
