WCSDPD Personnel Training
The Washoe County School District Police Department is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the training and continuing education of the members of the Department. By having a dedicated Training Officers, this ensures that new skills are developed and that an officer's existing skills are improved. The Dpartment also makes certain that standards set forth by Nevada POST (Peace Officers' Standards and Training), are maintained and up to date. The Department facilitates training in these areas, and maintains the required documentation and records for the trainings.
Some of the training officers receive include:
- Defensive Tactics (including Use of Force)
- Firearm Proficiency (quarterly)
- Handcuffing and Impact Weapons
- Evidence Procedures
- Domestic Violence Situations
- Blood borne Pathogens Safety
- CPR and First Aid
- EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course)
- Police Bicycle Training
- Cultural Diversity
- EMS (Emergency Management System) Training
