| Schedule a K-6 Book Drive | If your business or organization is capable and interested in holding an employee or employee/customer book drive, to provide new or gently used books to struggling readers, this is a great way to help. A recent UNR international study determined that as few as 20 books in a home will affect the literacy and educational levels of a child. Plus, books promote family literacy. Volunteer Services will deliver and pick up a large container for book collection, IRS information, and lists of recommended books by grade level. |
| Support a School By Funding a Student Worker | UNR and TMCC college student workers are provided to WCSD through the financial aid offices. The discounted federal work study rate allows WCSD to obtain a college student worker for a full school year (August-May) for ten hours a week at the cost of $795.00. The college work study students can be hired to tutor, help with office support, data entry, and support for other school programs such as Early Childhood. $1590.00 provides a student for 20 hours per week for the school year. |
| Support by Funding an AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer | For $11,000.00, the school district can cost share an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer for an entire year. This is a full time position that is given medical benefits, a stipend, and an educational award. The VISTA volunteer can recruit volunteers and build volunteer capacity.

| Fund an AmeriCorps Volunteer for a School | A Non-VISTA AmeriCorps volunteer is also available. For $6,000.00 the district can cost share an AmeriCorps volunteer for one year. These are full time positions with medical benefits, a stipend, and an educational award. AmeriCorps volunteers can help in a variety of ways in the district. For example, tutoring, office support, technology, and support for programs. |
| Suppport a School by Funding a College Intern | $1000.00 will cover the cost of the stipend for a college internship for an entire school year. This is a wonderful way to provide support to a school in the WCSD!
