Read & Succeed

The Read and Succeed training sessions train volunteers in tutoring below grade level students in reading. Each trainee is provided with a Read and Succeed training booklet which contains valuable information on the academic side of reading to students. Tutors are required to volunteer at least one (1) hour per week, per semester. We will place you at the school of your choice. Please click here for our current training schedule.

In an effort to continue to grow, WCSD Volunteer Services developed a training video to assist community volunteers who wish to become Reading tutors and for those volunteers who wish to review the training. Please click on Read & Succeed Training Video.

Read & Succeed Testimonials

Lisa,
I just want to say thank you for sending all the tutors our way. Read & Succeed has really improved student achievement here at our school. All the new books are great to replenish the reading box in the library! I appreciate that your tutors are trained and ready to go to work with our students. Thank you for all you and your staff do for us.

Dear Lisa-Marie,
I wish to report good news. I was able to detect a problem with a 9 year old student. She was skipping lines. I told her teacher that maybe she should have her eyes checked out. Her teacher thanked me for the input and said she would check it out. This week, the student had her glasses on and I asked if they were new. She said she already had them. She read to me without error. I reported to her teacher of the quick improvement. Her teacher said that her family would keep her with the glasses. Please thank your people for giving us the tools to use with these little kids.

Thanks Again, Don

Hi Lisa,
Our tutor is wonderful! We love her! She always arrives early and has been very consistent in coming. Thank you so much for arranging for her to come out here! Now, we are just hoping she will be with us for always! When does she have to stop?
