Community Advisory Board 

The Washoe County School District Volunteer Services Community Advisory Board (VSCAB) generates ideas, advocates for the role of volunteering, and makes suggestions to the Volunteer Services Department.

Volunteer Services Community Advisory Board Members:

Scott Kelley: Scott is the School Board Liason to the Volunteer Services Community Advisory Board. As a School Board Trustee, Scott has targeted increasing volunteerism as one of his top priorities. This makes him a natural leaeder for the VSCAB members. Scott has been a resident of Washoe County for 15 years. He graduated from UNR in 2004 with a B.A. in Journalism. 

Suellen Fulstone: Suellen is a native Nevadan. She graduated from the University of Nevada in 1972, obtained a JD degree from Stanford Law School in 1976, and has practiced law in Reno for the past 34+ years. She became a volunteer in the Washoe County School District in 1992 when her daughter started school. She is presently transitioning into retirement from the practice of law and is enrolled in the Master's program in Elementary Education at UNR.
Robert J. Lissner: Bob is currently a volunteer 8th grade teacher at Vaughn Middle School and President of Lifestyle Homes Foundation, Inc. Mr. Lissner received a B.S. from Stanford in 1963 and an M.B.A. from Stanford in 1965. Mr. Lissner has been self-employed his entire career as a software engineer and production home builder. Mr. Lissner's current efforts include a project to recycle used school district computers back into classrooms and advocating for greater quality and diversity of vocational education.   
JB Benna: JB just relocated back to the Reno/Tahoe area with his family. JB is an ambitious, award winning film producer and director with a passion for adventure and inspiring social change. JB graduated with a Cinema/Television degree from the University of Southern California in 2001. In 2006, JB founded Journeyfilm, a production company, in order to create and distribute adventure and extreme sport documentaries. 
Mike Nolan: Mike received his BS from the University of Washington in 1966 and his MBA from UNR in 1976. He spent 3 years in the Peace Corps and 18 months with CARE. The majority of his career was spent with the State of Nevada in various divisions within state government. His expertise is in the development of budgeting. He is currently a tutor in the Washoe County School District working in the Math Paths, Read and Succeed, and Native American programs.       
Fred Boyd: Fred had a twenty-five year management career with United Airlines. He was the Director of Consumer Affairs for United and Interim Administrative Assistant to the CEO. He also served as Interim CEO for the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, and Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce. He's been the Chair of EDAWN, Reno-Tahoe Open (PGA), The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, Civic Leader of the Year, JA Business Hall of Fame, and on the Blue Ribbon Selection Committee for the Washoe County School District Superintendent search.  
Cindee Ashkar: Cindee moved to the Reno-Sparks area with her family over fourteen years ago. Her daughter; Sara, attended Washoe County Schools from the 1st through the 12th grade and now attends Trinity College. During the time her daughter was attending WCSD, Cindee was very active in PTO, PTA, and served as Treasurer. Cindee graduated with a BA from Boston College and had a 17 year career with CVS Pharmacy in the Boston area. She has been a substitute teacher in the WCSD for the past nine years.  
Patti Bernard: Patti is a former elementary and middle school science and history teacher in Douglas and Washoe County schools. She held the position of Assistant Principal at Sarah Winnemucca and Libbie Booth schools, and retired as Principal of Libbie Booth in 2004. She has served on the WCSD Superintendent's Advisory Committees, WCSD science and history curriculum committees, and the first Nevada State Standards History Committee. She is an advocate for volunteerism and is pleased to be a member of the Volunteer Services Community Advisory Board. 
Kathleen Noneman: Kathleen is currently serving as a part time Family Court Master for the Second Judicial District Family Court in Reno, Nevada. She holds a JD from Nevada School of Law and is licensed to practice law in California and Nevada. She aso holds an MS in Business Management from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama, and a BA in Language Arts and Social Sciences from California State University at Chico. Prior to her becoming an attorney, she lived and taught in Europe. She also taught at various places in the U.S. including Reno where she taught ESL at Traner.   
 Barbara Agre: Barbara moved to the Reno/Tahoe area twenty-three years ago from the Philidelphia area. She was a school teacher in the area and then started her own business: Brown Bag Seminars. It educated and enriched the lives of many lower level personnel in Fortune 500 companies. Barbara also served on many boards in the area, as well as, the President of RSVP for thirteen years, and as one of the Presidents and founders of the Reno Philharmonic Guild. She is currently a volunteer with Read and Succeed.
Stephen Benna: Stephen attended the University of Nevada Reno from 1970-1975 and received a B.S. in Managerial Science. He spent the majority of his career with C.B. Concrete Company; from 1975-2010. He was the General Manager of C.B. Concrete from 1987 through 2003. He was also the owner and General Manager of Capital City Concrete Company from 1984 through 2003. Steve has served on many boards including: Catholic Community Services, Comstock Bank, Sierra Nevada Concrete Association, and Associated General Contractors.
Jean Carbon: Jean has over 30 years experience in fundraising and volunteerism. Her most recent position was for 17 years with the University of Nevada, Reno as Director of Development and Public Relations for the College of Education and College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources. Jean was also a member of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation which raised over 125 million dollars. She retired in 2009 and went back to work as a consultant for the University of Nevada, Reno and the Food Bank.   
Karen McGee: Karen McGee is currently retired and is an Independent Consultant for Scholastic Classroom Libraries. She received her B.S. in Elementary and Physical Education from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1967. She received her M.A. in Reading from the University of Nevada in 1988. From 1989 through 2004, she served as Reading Coordinator for K-12. Prior to that, she was a kindergarten teacher at Elizabeth Lenz Elementary School.
