| On May 20, 2011 Echo Loder Elementary School spotlighted writing during "Writing Celebration Day." As part of Echo Loder's yearlong focus on writing and the role of writing in students' lives, Writing Celebration Day offered students the chance to present their own writing as well as interact with published author Terri Farley. Kim Blume, Instructional Coach, and organizer of the day, noted that the event, "allowed students an authentic opportunity to share their published writing and talk with others about the skills used and choices made in their writing."
Writing Celebration Day successfully spotlighted Loder's developing writers and the critical role writing plays in a student's academic career and in their future lives. As one second grader noted, "I didn't like writing before because it's hard, but now I want to be an author like Ms. Farley!" |
