FEB 16 - RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES - SCHOLARSHIPS
Open to ALL seniors who plan to go to college next year. There is the RMHS Scholars program as well as scholarship specific for students of Asian, African American, or Hispanic Heritage. 37 awards of $1000 or more will be given LOCALLY. FEB 22 - ZONTA CLUB OF GREATER RENO
This is a public service award program for young WOMEN in public affairs. Open to senior females who volunteer in their communities. Local winner receives $500 and goes on to compete further. Log on to www.zonta.org to download scholarship application or pick one up in Galena Library.

Open to seniors who have survived cancer. Must have at least a 2.5 gpa, planning to go on to full-time college. Financial need, community service/activities, essay, and letters of recommendation are the selection criteria. A $2500 renewable scholarship is available. MAR 1 - SONS OF ITALY - Academic, Athletic, and Italy Study Grants
Open to seniors of ITALIAN descent. Pick up applications in Galena Library or go online to learn more at www.sonsofitaly.org. Scholarships usually range from $500 to $5000.

MAR 5 - SCHOLAR ATHLETE MILK MUSTACHE OF THE YEAR OR "SAMMY 2010" SCHOLARSHIP
Open to seniors who are excellent athletes and excellent studnets. Go to bodybymilk.com to learn more and apply online. 25 finalists will receive $7500 scholarship each and attend awards ceremony in Florida.

MAR 5 - SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
Open to all seniors with financial need and a minimum GPA of 2.5, eight $2000 awards will be given. Pick up application in Galena Library in scholarship drawer.

MAR 8 -JUNE STANDARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Open to seniors who are planning to study hospitality, travel, or tourism. 500-word essay and cover sheet. $1000 will be awarded. Pick up application info in Galena Library.

MAR 10 - HIGH SCHOOL STUDY ABROAD (SUMMER 2010)
Offers three study-abroad trips for high school students. Pick up application in Galena Library scholarship drawer.

MAR 13 - LATIMER ART CLUB (RENO)
Open to senior art students who plan to enroll in college next fall. Pick up "call for applications" in Galena Library. Briefly: submit photographs of three pieces of your strongest work. A $750 scholarship will be awarded.

MAR 15 - NEVADA AGRICULTURAL FOUNDATION EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AWARD
Open to all college-bound seniors interested in agriculture who can show financial need. Over ten different scholarships ranging from $1000-2500 will be awarded. Go to www.nvagfoundation.org and click on "Assistance."

MAR 16 - SILVER STATE SCHOOLS CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP

MAR 20 - AYN RAND'S ESSAY CONTEST ON "ANTHEM"

MAR 22 - NAHAS SHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT
Open to all students who are planning on attending UNR who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 or higher. Two $6000 four-year awards will be given, to one male and one female. Pick up application in Galena Library in the scholarship drawer.

MAR 25 - GREATER NEVADA CREDIT UNION EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

MAR 26 - MARVIN MOSS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Open to seniors who attended this school. Pick up application in Galena Library. Four $500 scholarships will be awarded.

MAR 26 - LATINO EDUCATION FOUNDATION NORTHERN NEVADA SCHOLARSHIP
Open to seniors who are first or second generation Latinos. GPA of 2.7 minimum, must be a Nevada resident, must show community involvement, two letters of recommendation required. Mail application by Mar 26 to ensure it arrives by April 2 deadline.

MAR 26 - RICKY WOODRING MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
One Galena musician will be awarded this $500 scholarship. Pick up application in Galena Library.

MAR 27 - NEVADA DIVISION OF WILDLIFE INTERNSHIP
Open to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career as a Wildlife Biologist. This is a great summer job in the career field student may keep for 4 years. Pick up application in Galena Library.

MAR 27 - CLEARSTAR FINANCIAL CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP
Open to seniors who have had an account at this credit union for over a year. Must demonstrate a commitment to community service. Two $1000 scholarships will be given. Pick up application in Galena Library or online at www.clearstarfcu.com

MAR 28 - NV ENERGY POWERFUL PARTNERSHIPS 2010 SCHOLARSHIP
Open to seniors who can document at least 20 hours of community service in the past 12 months. Must demonstrate academic success in transcript. Financial need may be considered. $1000 award. Pick up application in Galena Library and mail in by deadline.

MAR 31 - NEVADA BOYS STATE
Open to JUNIOR BOYS who want to participate in a unique educational program (NOT classroom lecture) next summer. Learn all about it and apply at www.nevadaboysstate.org. It will be held at UNR June 13-19, 2010.

MAR 31 - CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEES YOUTH AUTOMOBILE SAFETY ESSAY CONTEST
Open to seniors who have a parent who is a government employee (or retired). Must have 3.0 gpa minimum. 500-word essay on ways the teenage automobile accident rate can be reduced. Two $1000 awards will be given. Pick up information in Galena Library.

MARCH - U. S. BANK INTERNET SCHOLARSHIP
Open to high school seniors who will atend a two-or four-year college full-time next year. Recipients will be selected by RANDOM DRAWING PROCESS. No essays required. Forty $1000 awards will be given. Apply online at usbank.com/studentloans.

APR 2 - CHAZ O'NEIL MEMORIAL SCHOLASHIP
Open to seniors who have participated in at least two years of Galena High School Athletics with a minimum GPA of 2.0, one male and one female will be selected to receive a $1000 scholarship or more. Pick up the application in the Galena Library scholarship drawer.

APR 9 - JULIE ARCINIEGA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Open to seniors who attended Pleasant Valley, Elizabeth Lenz, Double Diamond, or Huffaker Elementary Schools. 3.0 minimum gpa. One page application asks, "How has a teacher had a positive influence on your education." $1000 will be awarded. Pick up application in Galena Library and return it there or mail it locally.
