FEB 16 - RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES - SCHOLARSHIPS
Open to ALL seniors who plan to go to college next year. There is the RMHS Scholars program as well as scholarship specific for students of Asian, African American, or Hispanic Heritage. 37 awards of $1000 or more will be given LOCALLY. FEB 22 - ZONTA CLUB OF GREATER RENO
This is a public service award program for young WOMEN in public affairs. Open to senior females who volunteer in their communities. Local winner receives $500 and goes on to compete further. Log on to www.zonta.org to download scholarship application or pick one up in Galena Library.

Open to seniors who have survived cancer. Must have at least a 2.5 gpa, planning to go on to full-time college. Financial need, community service/activities, essay, and letters of recommendation are the selection criteria. A $2500 renewable scholarship is available. MAR 13 - LATIMER ART CLUB (RENO)
Open to senior art students who plan to enroll in college next fall. Pick up "call for applications" in Galena Library. Briefly: submit photographs of three pieces of your strongest work. A $750 scholarship will be awarded.
MAR 15 - NEVADA AGRICULTURAL FOUNDATION EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AWARD

MAR 16 - SILVER STATE SCHOOLS CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP

MAR 26 - LATINO EDUCATION FOUNDATION NORTHERN NEVADA SCHOLARSHIP
Open to seniors who are first or second generation Latinos. GPA of 2.7 minimum, must be a Nevada resident, must show community involvement, two letters of recommendation required. Mail application by Mar 26 to ensure it arrives by April 2 deadline.

CLASS OF 2011 - ROBERT C. BYRD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Students: you don't "apply" for this one. Simply earn a 3.5 or higher unweighted gpa, and take the ACT by January 1st of your senior year, marking the "release my scores" box. If you earn at least a 25 composite score, the Dept. of Ed will ask us to verify your gpa. The State of Nevada DOE will select a % of top recipients. Approximately 40 awards will be given in Nevada (up to $6000 each).
