Looking for community service? The “Walk for Hope” to prevent suicide is THIS SATURDAY, Sept 10 at Idlewild. Registration at 8 a.m. Pick up flyer in LIBRARY or go online to www.nvsuicideprevention.org.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Elizabeth Lenz Elementary School is looking for volunteers to help Tuesday, Sept. 20, for annual BBQ and Carnival. Call Mrs. Azzam at Lenz at 851-5620 to sign up.
THE BUDDY WALK is Saturday October 1st at the Sparks Marina. Go on the Downs Syndrome Northern Nevada Network website at www.dsnnn.org to register and learn more.
THE KOMEN RACE FOR THE CURE is Sunday, October 2 at Boomtown. Register now by going online to www.kintera.org or just Google “northern Nevada Komen.” Help raise funds to prevent breast cancer.
You can also go on WWW.SERVE.GOV and enter “Reno, NV” for location. 78 activities “in our area” pop up now. Giving back to our community is a great way to help others, gain recommenders for your resume, and lift your spirits. Keep up the good work!
STUDENTS: Come to the Library on September 13th during enrichment and meet Sgt. Steurer from the Marines. Learn about the educational opportunities and financial security of the Marines. Come to the Library before September 13th to get your enrichment pass.
ATTENTION SENIORS: Come sign up to participate in the senior raffles now! Sign-up sheets are in rooms 114 and 121. Senior raffles will be held throughout the week of September 19th. Ask any of the Senior class officers if you have questions.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS SEEKING COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS. On Monday, September 12 during 12:20PM enrichment plan on coming to the Library to hear from RAVE (Respite and Volunteer Experiences). The RAVE Family Center provides respite to those caring for young children with special needs. You will be trained to care for the children and fulfill volunteer service requirements. You will be asked to volunteer approximately 8 hours per month. Get your enrichment pass to attend from the Library.
Hunsberger Elementary School needs volunteers the second Tuesday of every month to BABYSIT during meetings. Great way to get your community service hours. Call Hunsberger PTA or stop by room 116 to read full details.
Students you will have until TODAY, September 9th to purchase your parking permit without consequences. Please be sure to come to the den to fill out your paperwork.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The SUMMIT is looking for TEEN VOLUNTEERS to serve on the TEEN ADVISORY BOARD to head up charitable and promotional TEEN events. This 11-month commitment counts as community service. Pick up INFO in the Galena Library Career Center SCHOLARSHIP DRAWER. Applications are due no later than SEPT. 16. Which is NEXT WEEK.
