NWRPDP: NELIP resources from the NWRPDP

Nevada's Northwest Regional Professional Development Program, serving Carson, Douglas, Lyon, Storey and Washoe County School Districts, supports high expectations and rigorous academic standards for all students, and provides professional development for all educators in improving student achievement through on-going trainings and the establishment of collegial learning communities.

In 2009, the Nevada legislature officially restructured Nevada's RPDPs. The Northwest Regional Professional Development happily welcomes the teachers and administrators from Carson, Douglas, and Lyon Counties, who joined us as a result of this restructure.

Nevada Early Literacy Intervention Program

To assist the state of Nevada in reaching the goal of all pupils reading at grade level by the end of 3rd grade, between 2001-2009 funding was approved for the RPDPs to establish and evaluate a Nevada Early Literacy Intervention Program (NELIP). This program is designed to provide training for teachers who teach kindergarten and grades 1, 2, and 3, on methods to teach fundamental reading skills. Additional resources are available on this site for 4th through 6th grade teachers.
