Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to Lemmon Valley Elementary School! I cannot express how proud and honored I am to be the principal of such a great community of families! I am committed to building a strong foundation of academic excellence and good citizenship for “each” child attending our school! As a team, we have made huge gains in both of these areas for all students, proving to all our WCSD Superintends, WCSD School Board Members and the Nevada Department of Education leaders that we are a school that is more than dedicated to excellence!
Our school mission is to work together to provide a safe, respectful and responsible learning environment where all students succeed academically and behaviorally. As a staff and community, we believe children need high expectations set for them to reach high achievement levels, and many adults including you; support them in their steps in meeting these expectations. This is the support and pathway we provide students at Lemmon Valley Elementary! As part of our Positive Behavior Support system, we believe that respect is taught by showing respect, and that quality behaviors lead to quality learning which, in turn, leads to quality citizens! These principles have been demonstrated at our school within the past two years, and we have all seen a more positive culture envelop at our school!
I hope you all will take a few minutes and get to know your child’s teacher and develop the best form of communication between the two of you for this school year! Communication and partnership between home and school is vital for our student’s continued success! All of our e-mail contacts can be found our school website at www.washoe.k12.nv.us/lemmonvalley/staff.htm.
Our school calendar is designed to serve as an introduction to Lemmon Valley Elementary, share information regarding school policies, important dates, and school activities. It is hoped that when you read our calendar with your child, you will each attain a better understanding of our school policies and answer questions you may have throughout the school year.
I honor an open-door policy that welcomes parent input in creating a school environment that is respectful, responsible and safe If I can be of assistance to you, or your child, please call or come in and see me. I would be happy to help you in any way I can!
I look forward to this fourth year working together with you and your child(ren) at Lemmon Valley!
Sincerely,
Ms. Kara White,
Principal
