Virginia Palmer ES is participating in the WATCH D.O.G.S PROGRAM.

                               What is WATCH D.O.G.S.®?

WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement program offered by the National Center for Fathering in which Virginia Palmer ES has enthusiastically adopted. This program focuses on safety and education by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures for a two-fold purpose:  (1) to provide an unobtrusive fathering presence, and (2) to provide a positive and active role-model for students at the school.  Fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, and uncles are asked to spend at least one day at their student's school volunteering. They will support the school through monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom with a teacher's guidance either working one-on-one or in small groups.

Today thousands of school programs world-wide participate in WATCH D.O.G.S.® helping to engage men, inspire children, reduce bullying and enhance the educational environment at school.

Welcome to Virginia Palmer Elementary School! I am very excited at the opportunity to be part of your child's most important educational years! Our main goal for the upcoming school year is to educate every child to his or her full potential and to maximize opportunities to achieve the highest of all standards. Our staff is dedicated to providing a learning environment that is positive, challenging, supportive, and one that will offer every child the opportunity to succeed. We have been working diligently this summer to assure each of our students has an amazing year. Your child will receive a school calendar on the first day of school, keep this somewhere safe and refer to it often, as it is a snapshot of the year ahead.
As you know, a child's education does not begin or end at school. Every waking moment is a learning experience of some kind. The majority of educational experience takes place in the home or at school and is most successful when everyone is actively involved. Communication between home and school is essential. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are a team and need to work together so we can help your child become successful in reaching maximum development each year. I encourage you to come join the fun and be an active parent in our school community.
We are looking forward to a partnership with you in providing the best educational opportunities in the WCSD! If, at any time, I can be of assistance to you, or your child, please call or come in and see me. I would be happy to help you in any way I can.

Sincerely,
