Parent Involvement Council Committees
The WCSD Parent Involvement Council committees are at the heart of the work of the Council and the partnership with the District. The Council's current committees are:
Assessment
The Assessment committee's overall goal is to continously collect data on family engagement to support our schools in improving their efforts to engage and partner with parents in the education of their children.
The committee currently works to implement the WCSD Climate Survey each year and improve our process for collecting data from every family. For more information about the Climate Survey, please click here. The
Family Friendly Schools
The Family Friendly Schools committee is charged with helping all schools in WCSD to create an environment where every family feels welcome and included in their child's education.
As one of the first committees and beginning initiatives of the PIC, the Family Friendly Schools committee developed the FFS Self-Assessment Guide for schools. The committee is currently providing Family Friendly walk-throughs and reports to schools who would like a confidential, objective assessment of their school's physical enviornment and welcoming atmosphere.

Parent Training & Inclusivity
The Parent Training & Inclusivity (PTI) committee works on programs and initiatives that help schools to be inclusive of all families and parents to understand the educational system.
The PTI committee is currently partnering with the Diversity Office to bring the Study Circles program from Montgomery County Public Schools to WCSD. The program will be implemented at several schools during the 2009-2010 school year. The PTI is also providing training for parents and parent leaders to help all parents understand the high school graduation requirements.

Professional Development
The Professional Development (PD) committee partners with District staff and departments to support all school staff to have the knowledge and skills needed to work in partnership with families.
The PD committee is currently working on parent involvement modules for administrators to discuss current and best practices on working with families. The modules will be implemented during the 2009-2010 school year.

Other Committees
Other WCSD PIC committees include Executive, Nominating and By-laws. These committees meet at different times of the year to address the business and mission of the Council.
