Parent Involvement Needs Assessment
The WCSD currently utilizes the climate survey to asses parent perceptions for each of our schools. For more information about the climate survey, please click here.
The Washoe County School District Parent Involvement Council began the process of conducting a needs assessment several years ago. During the 2007-2008 school year, the PIC’s Needs Assessment Committee conducted two district-wide online questionnaires, one for school principals and one for all teachers and staff. The third component was a mail survey of all parents in the district, approximately 53,000 households.
The PIC contracted with the Center for Program Evaluation at the University of Nevada, Reno to provide technical assistance with this process, including assistance with the survey development, analysis and reporting. This District Report presents the results of all three components and includes comparisons with data collected from school administrators and staff in the spring of 2007. The School Reports represent the data collected from teachers, staff and parents at each school.
Data was used by both the WCSD Parent Involvement Council and individual schools to identify needs for parent involvement and improve outreach efforts to families.
