Students be Phone Aware:

The school year has been amazing so far!!! The one big hole we had last year is getting us again, phone theft. We live in an era where kids have nicer phones than their parents do = $600 for some phones.
Here are a couple of reminders:
1. Pine is not responsible for lost or stolen
2. IPhones/Smart phones - Please do not flash your phone around for others to see
3. Make sure your phone is locked up or secure with you and make sure your locker is shut (sometimes they are not shut all the way).
4. Never leave it unattended. Never loan it out.
5. Place a locator on your cell if at all possible

We found two phones this year, one with our camera system, and one with a locator. If we do not have either of these devices available, it is slim to none that these phones will be returned. On average, we are able to recover 1/10 phones that are lost or stolen.

Safe Zones

A new program called “Safe Zones” has been implemented in all Washoe County Middle Schools due to the increase in gang activity, bullying, violence to students by other students, and lack of knowledge by the middle school student population of knowing where to go to receive help. We have Safe Zones in the library, counseling office, nurse, and main office. Student can access these locations in the morning and at lunch.
