Good morning all and happy Friday,
In case you weren’t aware, we are in the midst of the final two weeks of the Winter sports regular season. We have had a great run to this point and we are making our final playoff push over the next two weeks. I would like to encourage all of you to come out and support our coaches and student/athletes as they gear up for the playoffs.
Boys Basketball: What an incredible season these guys have had. If you haven’t had a chance to catch a Boys Varsity game this year, you really are missing something. They play fast, hard-nosed defense and we have some guys that can light it up from beyond the arc. The Boys currently sit at 8-3 in league play which is good for second place and with five league games remaining it looks like we will secure a top seed for the playoffs. The playoff push starts tonight at Reed at 7:30 as we host a Reno team that we already have beat once this week. Reno currently sits in third in our league and a win tonight for us would push us one step closer to a High Desert League title.
Girls Basketball: If you haven’t had a chance to watch these girls play, you truly are missing out. The Lady Raiders currently sit atop the High Desert League with a perfect league mark of 11-0. Tonight, they face off with long-time rival Reno in what promises to be a big game. The girls will begin to cement their legacy with another win tonight that will all but assure them of a league championship and the reward of hosting a first-round playoff game. Our girls play an up-tempo fast paced game that is a lot of fun to watch. They tip off tonight at home at 6pm.
Wrestling:We don’t often get home meets, but we have a big one coming up next Wednesday night. We will be hosting High Desert power McQueen in what will be the last home match for our senior group. Our wrestling program currently sits in fourth place in the High Desert and should secure a playoff berth in the coming weeks. Come on out on Wednesday the 1st and watch some true gladiators battle the Lancers, you won’t be disappointed.
Skiing: If you forgot we had a ski team, don’t feel bad because we haven’t had any snow. However, that has changed and our young racers will begin to hit the slopes in earnest over the next few weeks to finish a very condensed league schedule. If you have skiers in class, please be aware that they will be missing quite a bit of class time due to the shortened season. Wish them luck as they try and conquer the slopes and our unseasonably warm weather.
Hope to see you there!
GO RAIDERS!!!!
