Hometown: Sparks, NV graduated from Reed in 1991

College: University of Nevada graduated 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Science with a concentration in Political Science. University of Phoenix graduated in 2005 with a Master's in Educational Leadership.

Years Teaching: This will be my 10th. First 3 years were at Sparks Middle School, the last six have been at Reed.

Subjects I have taught: World Geography, World History, US History, and Government.

Rewards of being a teacher?
No two days are the same in social studies. Every day brings a new challenge in relating an enormous amount of material. The reward is that when student's leave my class I feel like they have learned something that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Government deals with real world applications that directly impacts everything we do. It is always rewarding to see students a few years after they have had my class and have them thank me for what they learned. That makes all the challenges worthwhile.

Goals as a teacher?
The ultimate goal is to help build outstanding citizens. In giving students a chance to learn the foundations and goals of our form of government and their role in it, hopefully we can create citizens that are better informed and more rational when making important choices in electing those who will rule.
