Opportunity Behavior School is not a school of choice; a student must be referred here through the Student Services Office or Specialized Student Services.
What is Opportunity Behavior School
Opportunity Behavior School is designed to provide alternative instruction to students in grades seventh through twelve who have been temporarily assigned from other schools throughout the Washoe County School District. The goal is to assist students in changing their behaviors, so that they may successfully return to their regular campus. To ensure this return, students are required to regularly attend school, adopt and maintain a positive attitude, follow all school rules and regulations, and perform well academically. Students must physically attend Opportunity Behavior Junior/Senior High for a minimum of nine weeks unless misbehavior or attendance dictates otherwise.
The administration and staff believe that all students can, with the necessary effort behave appropriately in the educational setting. Therefore, the Opportunity Behavior School staff is dedicated to providing your student with ample opportunities to leave past mistakes behind and look toward a successful future. Since Opportunity Behavior School is a behavioral school a plan for school success that consists of weekly themes is in place in order to facilitate change in your student’s conduct.
