Register for School 2009-10
Registration Information
The first day will be a full day of school with lunch and regular bus service. All returning students must register at the beginning of each school year. Exact times and dates may vary from school to school. Please contact your school for registration details.
Any student NEW to the Washoe County School District (WCSD) must present a birth certificate or passport and an immunization record from your health care provider. A utility bill is necessary for proof of residency, however if that is not available, please contact the school you are zoned for to get another option. High school students younger than 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in order to register.

Immunizations
Immunizations are a state requirement for students attending Washoe County schools. Please make sure your child's immunizations are up to date.
Please note: There are new immunization requirements for students who are entering 7th grade, as well as other immunization requirements that will affect students who are coming from out of state or who are entering Kindergarten. There are several community health care agencies that provide immunizations, including private physicians. When obtaining immunizations from any community health care agency, please remember to bring your child's immunization record with you.

Kindergarten
Welcome to Kindergarten (Spanish) ![]()
Kindergarten students on a traditional calendar begin classes the second week of school. During the first week of school, kindergarten students will be given the Early School Success Screening. Please check with YOUR child's school for a screening appointment. A child must reach his/her fifth birthday by September 30 in order to attend kindergarten this year.

Registration dates and times vary. Contact your school for details. Students should report to the school for which they are zoned. Transfer students from outside the school district or students with questions about their schedules should contact the school office before the first day of school.

Registration runs from 8:30 to 3:30 daily. All schools will register at this time. Bring:
- Original Birth Certificate
- Shot Record
- Social Security Number, if you have one for the child (optional)
- Proof of Residency, power or telephone bill

First Graders New to the District
First-grade students must take the First Grade Admission Test if the child:
- Did not attend an accredited kindergarten;
- Did not attend a private kindergarten program licensed by the Nevada Department of Education; or
- Were home schooled without the approval of the WCSD.

Elementary School, Grade 1-6
Parents are reminded that all students need to be registered during your school's specified times in order to complete the registration forms. Contact your child's school for registration details.

Middle School, grades 7-8
Registration dates and times vary. Contact your school for details. Students should report to the school for which they are zoned. Transfer students from outside the school district or students with questions about their schedules should contact the school office before the first day of school.

High School, Grades 9-12
Registration dates and times vary. Contact your school for details. High school students who registered previously should have received information in the mail. Students new to the school district should make an appointment with a school counselor by calling the school for which they are zoned before the first day of school. High school students younger than 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in order to register.

Washoe High School Registration
New Washoe High Students
- Must be 3rd or 4th year high school students.
- Must have a referral from the student's zoned school and a copy of the current transcript.
- Must be accompanied by a parent/guardian if under 18.
- Students new to the district must present a birth certificate and immunizations records. A Social Security number is also requested.
- Special Education or 504 students must call for information and an appointment.

Meal tickets can be pre-purchased at the school cafeteria. Applications for free or reduced-price meals are included in the schools' registration packets or can be picked up at the school office.
Bus Transportation
Bus transportation begins the first day of school and will be provided to elementary students who live more than 1 mile from school, middle school students who live more than 2 miles and high school students who live more than 3 miles. Students whose routes have been declared hazardous by the Board of Trustees also will be bused.

Special Education
Registration for Special Education students follows the same procedure as for general education students. Special Education students newto the Washoe County School District report to the school for which they are zoned.
Returning Special Education students return to the school they attended last year unless they have been notified otherwise by the Special Education Department. For questions on Special Education, call 857-3161. No registrations will be taken over the phone.
Special Education Bus Service
To receive bus service beginning on the first day of school, parents or guardians of students who will be attending the same school/program as last year MUST fill out the student transportation form that was sent home with your child in June. NEW Special Education students needing bus service can obtain bus forms from the schools or by calling Special Education at 857-3161.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Students NEW to Washoe County School District who speak a language other than English are required by Federal Law to take an English language test to determine their level of English proficiency.
Non-English speaking students entering grades 1 to 6 register and test at their zoned school except for students zoned for Smithridge, Hidden Valley, Pleasant Valley, Brown, Dodson, Caughlin Ranch, Mt. Rose, Lenz, Double Diamond, Jessie Beck or Huffaker who register and test at Donner Springs, 5125 Escuela Lane, Reno 89502.
Limited and fluent English speaking students entering grades 1 - 6 register at their zoned school.

ESL Registration Information for 2009-2010 School Year

Please allow for one to two hours for testing. Staff at the schools will explain to students which schools they should enroll in and which ELL (ESL) classes are offered. Students will also receive information about transportation to their school. Testing and Registration is scheduled for Monday, August 17 through Friday, August 28, 2009, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Incline High School:
7:48 a.m.-2:02 p.m.
("Zero" period classes start at 6:55 a.m.) Registration will begin in August. Book deposits ($20 for incoming freshman and new students), Student Body Cards ($20) and Yearbooks ($65) should be paid at this time.
Counselors will be available during registration hours. Counselors are assigned to students by alphabet: Alana Brown A-K, Faith Nicole L-Z. High school students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in order to enroll.
Athletic Packets and "Pink Slips" to participate in fall sports will also be available beginning in August . The Student Body Card fee ($20) and Athletic Transportation fee ($25) must be paid in order to receive "Pink Slips."

Incline Middle School:
7:55 a.m. -2:14 p.m.
Registration packets for all students will be available beginning in August , from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All forms in the packet must be completed and signed. When packets are returned, students will receive their class schedules.
Students new* to the district should call the middle school office at 832-4220 for an appointment with the counselor.
Incline Elementary School
Grades K-2: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Grades 3-5: 9:10 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Registration for new* students starts in August. Early School Success Screenings for kindergarten students are held the first week of school. Call 832-4240 or 832-4250 with any questions.
*New Students: To enroll, bring a certified copy of the student's birth certificate or passport and immunization record from your health care provider. A utility bill is necessary for proof of residency. The student's Social Security number also is requested.
Washoe Adult Program:
Offers Adult Diploma and GED classes
The Washoe Adult program also offers ESL classes. The cost for ESL registration is $30.00 and they will receive 3 new books. We have morning and evening classes.
