High School Signature Academies
About the Signature Academies
Washoe County School District's Signature Academies are an innovative approach to ensuring college and career readiness for all students. This initiative creates career- and industry-based programs at each comprehensive high school over the next four years. The Signature Academies will focus on specific programs, topics and distinguishing themes to prepare all students for the workforce of tomorrow.

Academies and Programs Currently Open:
- The Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology (please visit AACT's website for application information, deadline for AACT is February 1st)
- Global Studies Academy at Robert McQueen High School
- Health Occupation Preparatory Education (H.O.P.E.) Academy at Edward Reed High School
- International Baccalaureate at Earl Wooster High School (please visit IB's website for application information, deadline for IB is March 1st)
Truckee Meadow Community College High School (please visit TMCC HS's website for application information)
Academies Opening Fall 2012:
- The Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Damonte Ranch High School
- Programs of study will be offered in Instrumental and Vocal Music, Dance and Theater
- *** Auditions for students wishing to be considered for PAC are scheduled for February 25th. Please contact Ms. Bauman at sbauman@washoeschools.net for Dance auditions, or Mr. Hearn at rhearn@washoeschools.net for Theater (Acting and/or Tech) auditions. Music auditions will take place in early May of 2012. For further information, please contact the PAC at (775) 851-5656***

- The Health Sciences Academy at Hug High School
- Students will take courses and explore careers in the health sciences field, including medicine, nursing, dentistry, and sports medicine.

- Programs of study will be offered in Culinary Arts, Metalworking & Design, and Automotive Technology

- Programs of study will be offered in Web Design, Video Production, 3D Animation, and Graphics and Digital Game Development. Marketing and Enterpreneurship content area will also be components of the programs.
