Adapted Physical Education (APE)
What is APE?
An Adapted Physical Education (APE) provider may be requested for a child on an IEP who has difficulty participating in a regular physical education program. The child must meet standardized eligibility criteria to qualify for these services.
How do I refer a child for APE?
First, modifications to the regular physical education program must be attempted for four to six weeks prior to a referral. Document all modifications and the results. If the modifications that have been in place are unsuccessful, complete the pre-assessment referral form, SSS-F042 and send the form to Related Services, Edison Building.
