IEP - Interim (New to District)
What is an Interim IEP?
A student enters the school and you are made aware of special education eligibility in another school district. If the student is coming from within the state of Nevada, eligibility does not have to be determined. If the student is from outside the state of Nevada, the IEP team must consult with parents and determine whether or not to implement the IEP from the previous school district or to develop an Interim IEP consisting of comparable services. If the out of state IEP is implemented, eligibility determination and a Washoe County School District IEP (annual) must be done within 45 school days. If the out of state IEP is not implimented, then an Interim IEP is written. The Interim IEP is only good for 30 calendar days. During that period additional testing is conducted, eligibility determination is discussed, and an eligibility meeting and IEP meeting (if applicable) must be held.
How do I do an Interim IEP?
An Interim IEP checklist can be found on CSI with the appropriate procedure.
