Whitehead Elementary Lunch procedures:
11:30-12:15 grades 4-6 go to lunch. Students who eat cold lunch are seated as they arrive in the cafeteria. Hot lunch students wait in line and are seated when they get their lunches. Students begin to be dismissed to recess starting at 11:45. Students who are finished are excused in an orderly fashion and released to the playground. Students who are not finished are given as much time as they need to finish. They are asked to scoot down to the end of the table to make room for the incoming students, but they are never asked to leave until they are finished.
11:45-12:30 grades 1-3 go to lunch. Cold lunch students are seated in the first available seats while the hot lunch students are seated once they get their lunches. Younger students are seated in spots vacated by the older students. They wait a little longer as the tables are washed prior to them sitting down. Students begin to be dismissed at 12:00 in the order they were seated. Again, students are never asked to leave until they finish their lunches. Primary students can stay until 12:30 when their bell rings for them to return to class.
The same procedures apply for indoor lunch during inclement weather. Instead of being dismissed to the playground, they are dismissed to their classrooms.
Cafeteria Rules:
- Sit 4 students to a bench.
- Raise your hand if you need assistance.
- Use inside voices when talking to friends.
- No talking when the lights are shut off.
- Clean up personal space (table tops, floor, and benches) before being dismissed.
- Walk at all times.
